A new Pocophone has been launched in India(i.e. the Pocophone X2 as it is known by the Indian market). The Pocophone in real sense is just a rebrand of Xiaomi’s Redmi K30. Is it the Pocophone we hoped to see?
The major feature of this phone is the 6.67″ 120hz display. This kind of display is often seen in more expensive phones. However, it uses an IPS LCD display making it the first phone with a high refresh display without an OLED panel. They also claim that their new 20:9 aspect ratio will help to give wider view angles when playing games and a cinematic view while watching movies.
The Pocophone X2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G(the most powerful Chipset in the 700′ series). It is not a flagship chip but it gives a great performance. The G behind the chip means that it has a better GPU particularly the Adreno 618 GPU clocked at a higher speed than normal. It also has 27W Fast-charge, UFS 2.1 storage of up to 256 and it is expandable through an SD card and also 8GB/6GB of Ram and also a large 4,500mah battery.
Camera-wise, it has a quad-camera rear setup, with a 2MP macro camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 64MP primary camera that uses a Sony IMX686 sensor. For selfies, it has dual “in-screen” cameras (20MP + 2MP), these are cameras in a punch-hole cutout, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. The cameras have been modded to give more capabilities to video creators with the 960 FPS slow-mo capture along with Xiaomi’s Vlog mode.
The official specs as released are shown below:
The best thing about Poco Phones is that they are cheap. This phone, in particular, goes for around $250, but it has some drawbacks. Firstly, the fingerprint is side-mounted(no in-display fingerprint), it doesn’t have IP68 water resistance, no air-triggers and that’s a real turn down for many mobile gamers and there is no 5G. On the bright side, it has a 120hz display(even though it’s not OLED).
In my opinion, I think it has great value for the price. What do you think? Did you expect more or does this satisfy the image of the ideal phone in your head? Hit us up in the comments as we always like to hear from you guys.
