According to the Presidential Taskforce (PTF) for the Coronavirus disease, there is no evidence showing that the dead bodies of coronavirus persons are infectious that is to say individuals can not contract the disease from somebody who died with the virus.
Recall that the Nigerian Government was attacked due to the non-compliance to social distancing order during late Abba Kyari’s burial.
Dr. Sani Aliyus who is the PTF coordinator spoke during a press briefing, saying that the Late Chief of staff to the President was properly prepared for the burial.
He also said that the dead bodies of persons with Coronavirus are not infectious only in the situation of viral hemorrhagic fever and cholera. He added that this was confirmed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) also.
He apologized and assured the public that the PTF would always follow the guidelines and rule it had made to help stop the coronavirus disease.
He stressed that the NCDC guidelines were very much reflecting the WHO guidelines.
“We will also like to assure the public that the task force takes its Presidential mandate seriously and is committed to executing it to the best of its ability as we ask for the public to continue holding us accountable for our actions.
“We read your comments on social media, we listen to you and also acknowledge the issues that might arise. Please continue to do so, it is the only way we can continue to improve and fight these big challenges we have,” NAN quoted him as saying.
