The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on strike for over two months and some claim the reason for the strike is due to the IPPIS. ASUU on Friday has revealed that the IPPIS is not their reason for the strike.
ASUU said the reason for the strike is because of the lamentable infrastructure, unfulfilled agreements, and demeaning welfare system of the Nigerian intellectual community.
The Union has described the submission of Biometric Verification Number (BVN) for effect payment as an act of illegality. Stating that the BVN is a very private instrument and should not be put in public space.
ASUU says they remain committed to their reason for embarking on the strike and the Federal Government would have to implement an outstanding agreement and payment of academic earned allowances from 2012 till date and also ensure visitation panels are constituted to visit the Universities
